Unlimited Star Battle puzzles
Dealing a board…
How to play
The grid is split into outlined regions. Place stars so that every row, every column and every region has the same number of them, and no two stars touch, not even at a corner. The full rules take about a minute to read.
Which size to pick
One star per row, column and region on 7×7, 8×8, 9×9, 10×10 and 11×11. Two stars on 10×10, 11×11 and 12×12.
A bigger grid gives you more to scan, but the reasoning stays the same. Two stars change the reasoning itself: a region can already hold a star and still need another, so you start working out where the second one can go. Two sizes have a page of their own, 8×8 puzzles and 10×10 puzzles, with how many boards there are, how hard they get and which techniques they need.
Stuck?
Every puzzle is checked before it is published: it has exactly one solution, and you can always reach it by logic, without guessing. Press Hint under the board. It first shows where to look, Show why explains the step, and Show the move shows it. The techniques page explains every step a hint can name.
Want one puzzle a day?
The daily puzzle is one grid that everybody gets, and a new one arrives at midnight UTC. It keeps a streak, it gets harder as the week goes on, and if you get stuck there are hints for that day’s board.
The boards above are the other half: no waiting, no streak to keep, and as many as you like at any size and difficulty.
